Gail's Tips For Writers

Picture
-- Pick a topic you really like, so you won't get tired of it before it's finished.

-- Know your destination before you start! Writing a story is like taking a trip: If you don't know where you want to end up, you will never get there.

-- Enjoy the journey:
. . . Have fun researching your project, but if you get sick of the research, stop and start the  next step.
. . . Enjoy the writing - it's your chance to create your own world and the people who will  live in it.
. . . Enjoy rewriting - it's what makes a "real" writer; think of it as playing with words, as solving problems.

-- Write because it's important. Consider your name your greatest asset, and don't put it on anything that is less than your best.

-- Don't write on an island. Get in your boat and row out to other people! Writing is communicating, so you need to connect with others who will read your work and who will help you make your thoughts clear.
